Burbank, CA, September 9, 2013 – Virtual Speech Center Inc., a leading developer of mobile applications for speech and language therapy, announced today the release of Fun with R, an iPad application for children with phonological disorders, available for download from Apple’s iTunes app store.
The Fun with R app employs two different approaches to the remediation of R, by organizing the stimuli in a way that allows speech and language pathologists to choose the traditional approach or phonetically consistent approach when treating R. This provides more flexibility, as clinicians can decide which technique works the best for their students.
The Fun with R app includes: R in initial, medial and final positions of words at the word, phrase and sentence level, allowing application of the traditional style of articulation therapy. It also includes vocalic R at the word, phrase and sentence levels, allowing application of a phonetic approach in speech therapy.
The Fun with R app keeps students motivated, as it offers three different games that make R drilling more fun and motivating. In addition to flashcards, users can play the memory game, the matching game and the bingo game.
The Fun with R app also allows full customization as the users can view the word menu and select or deselect the words that they wish to include in speech therapy. Additional features offered by this app include the ability to audio-record and compare student’s productions with pre-recorded audio, track progress over time and email the reports at the end of each session.
